Cllr Alex Allison is the Leader of the Conservative Group on South Lanarkshire Council. He represents Clydesdale East (Ward 3)
Alex was elected as a councillor for his home ward of Clydesdale East in the 2017 South Lanarkshire Council election. His fellow Conservative councillors then elected him as the leader of the group.
He has a long history as a representative of the area. Alex represented the neighbouring ward of Clydesdale West as a South Lanarkshire councillor between 2007 and 2012 and is a former community council member and school board chair. He served as chairman of the South Lanarkshire Conservative and Unionist Association until March, when he stood down to focus on the upcoming election campaign.
Local farmer Alex has two children and lives in Clydesdale with his wife. He is heavily involved in local and national farming issues, having been the Lanarkshire chairman of the National Farmer's Union, chairman of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs and chair of Lanarkshire Farmers Market company.
